Member Spotlight: Of Moving Colors Productions

March 28, 2023 2:48 PM | Chelsey Blakenship (Administrator)

Of Moving Colors, one of Louisiana's few professional dance companies, was founded in 1987. This year, OMC celebrates its 35th Anniversary Season and the 25th season served by Artistic Director Garland Goodwin Wilson. Performances take place at Manship Theatre in Shaw Center for the Arts along with schools, libraries and many other site-specific locations in the region. Studio Partners include PMS Dance (2016 Perkins Road), and as of Fall 2023, at Pilates Plus at (18303 Perkins Road).

MISSION: Of Moving Colors (OMC) is a contemporary dance-theatre organization dedicated to creating and presenting excellent performances and community-based dance activities that inspire, educate, and stimulate. OMC is equally committed to offering admirable opportunities to dancers in our community in the form of master classes, guest residencies, and paid work in order to further the validity of the dance profession in Louisiana.

TOP GOAL:  To support creative cultural connections in Louisiana through master residencies, workshops and performances inside and outside of the theatre. One way we do this is through funding from our annual Legends Gala. On March 30th, at the home of David Manship, we're hosting "Shakespeare & Elizabeth" where guests are encouraged to come in their most dramatic Elizabethan regalia for an evening of fanfare, festivities and, of course, scrumptious food and libations! https://www.ofmovingcolors.org/legends-gala-2023.  Following the gala, with support from the National Endowment of the Arts, OMC will premier a contemporary adaptation of "Othello'' on May 5th & 6th.
