      <title>{LSUS SPRING WORKSHOP} Board Development: How to Be a More Effective Nonprofit Leader (April 16, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Nonprofit board members play a vital role in advancing the mission, ensuring accountability, and building a strong and sustainable organization. This two part workshop series can be taken separately or together. The first workshop is board development from a staff and founder perspective. Whether you're new to board service or looking to sharpen your skills, this interactive 90-minute workshop will help you to create and manage an effective board.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Led by experts from the Institute for Nonprofit Administration and Research, this in-person session offers clear guidance, practical tools, and real-world examples tailored to the needs of Louisiana nonprofits.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Participants will learn how to:&lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;ul&gt;
  &lt;li&gt;Understand the legal and fiduciary responsibilities of board service&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Create board meeting, committee work, and strategic planning systems&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Partner effectively with the board in achieving the mission&lt;/li&gt;

  &lt;li&gt;Recognize the characteristics of high-performing boards&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Who Should Attend: Nonprofit founders, executive directors and board chairs looking to strengthen board leadership and engagement.&lt;/p&gt;

      <title>Informative Session: The ETOUFFEE Program (VIRTUAL) (April 21, 2026)</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;The ETOUFFE program, Enhancing Technological Opportunity for yoU and your Family to Foster Education and Enterprise, is a broadband expansion program funded by the U.S. Treasury that provides laptops, desktop computers, and accessibility-equipped devices to eligible public-facing organizations across Louisiana.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The goal is simple: ensure residents have access to the technology they need to build digital skills necessary for work, education, and health monitoring. Devices are distributed directly to selected organizations; no reimbursement or upfront purchase is required.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Eligible applicants include nonprofits, libraries, municipalities, public health agencies, faith-based organizations, educational institutions, and other community-serving entities located in areas where affordability remains a barrier to broadband use. Projects must provide free, public access to devices and support all three focus areas: work, education, and health. To learn more about program requirements and the application process, we invite you to join an information session:&lt;/p&gt;
